The Class & Instructor
A very interesting class with a great professor! You'll learn mostly from a neurological basis how different types of learning occurs in the brain- if you like both psychology and neuroscience this is definitely the class for you!
Overall, this has been my favorite course and it really had to do with professor Markus. He really made the entire course interesting and fun to learn even though some of the material was difficult to comprehend at first, he made an effort to explain it in a different way. He constantly reassured us that he would go over it again and encouraged us to ask questions if there were things we didn’t understand. With the unexpected circumstance we faced with having to learn online, he made all the effort to continue to teach the course in an interactive way and I am really grateful for that. It really eased my anxiety knowing that professor Markus was doing all he could to support us through out this course.
Good method of walking through historical experiments/studies and explaining the relevance to the current question/topic we are studying. Very effective class structure in which concepts explored in previous lecture are reviewed in the following lecture, helping strengthen our retention of concepts...
This may have been the best psych course I’ve ever had. I truly did learn so much and in such a short amount of time! It was a pleasure having the opportunity to be in your class.
We went over lots of information-it can get a little heavy- but I feel like it was all really important, especially for a psych major, and it’s nothing unmanageable. In a sense, I feel like the course brought together many concepts from other previous psychology classes. Professor Markus did a very good job of prioritizing material and presenting it in a clear, organized manner. He even throws in some nice jokes to keep things fresh and interesting. You can really tell Professor Markus cares about your success- he always makes sure concepts are understood...
I can’t really think of anything to improve the instructors teaching effectiveness because overall he did a phenomenal job
The most positive aspect of the way in which the instructor taught the course was the level of engagement he had in teaching the class as well as encouraging us to engage as well. I really found it helpful that he spent time before each class reviewing what was taught in the previous class. this constant reminder really helped me better understand the material that was taught. It really demonstrated to me that he enjoyed teaching this course which in return made me enjoy learning.
He was great.
